Mission’s annual Holiday Lights and Festive Sights event, Nov. 30, to feature popular children’s performer, Dino O’Dell

Mission, KAN (Nov. 12, 2007): The annual Mission “Holiday Lights and Festive Sights” will celebrate the beginning of the holiday season in Mission on Friday evening, Nov. 30, according to Suzie Gibbs, Chair of the Mission Business Development Council. Set on Johnson Drive, between Woodson and Beverly, the family-friendly event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with free entertainment, children's activities, stories and fireworks.

Activities at Holiday Lights and Festive Sights will include a visit from Santa Claus, free S’mores, youth ballet performance, Shawnee Mission North Choir, caricature artist, tree lighting ceremony, street vendors, face painting, ornament crafts with students from Shawnee Mission North high school, free coloring books from Mission Bank, stories with Mrs. Claus, holiday sing-a-long, and a festive musical fireworks display.

Headlining the evening will be popular children’s performer Dino O'Dell & the Veloci-Rappers performing original children’s music and holiday carols. O’Dell’s interactive musical performance features itty bitty monsters, a space alien that has crashed his ship in the local park and a swimming pond filled with peanut butter. Children are engaged through singing, dancing, fill-in-the blank lyric writing, finger plays and counting songs. There is even a number where the kids join the band.

Dino O’Dell’s shows bring to life the musical cultures of Polka, Reggae, Rock 'n' Roll, Ska, Klezmer, Rap, Country and Blues.
