Holiday Lights and Festive Sights
Event Scheduled for Friday Evening, December 5 in Mission

Mission, KAN (November 14, 2008): There will be some highly enjoyable Holiday Lights and Festive Sights set on Johnson Drive in Mission, Friday evening, Dec. 5th, when the city celebrates the beginning of the holiday season, according to Suzie Gibbs, Chair of the Mission Business Development Council, the organization that organizes the annual event.

Set on Johnson Drive, between Woodson and Beverly, Holiday Lights and Festive Sights is a the family-friendly event beginning at 5:30 p.m. and includes the lighting of the  Christmas Tree at 6:15 pm, Santa and Mrs. Santa arriving at 6:30 pm, the Shawnee Mission North Choir performing at 6:30 pm, the Dino O’Dell Interactive Children’s Show at 7:00 pm. A festive musical fireworks display will go off at 8:15 pm.

Holiday Lights and Festive Sights’ free activities for the kids include face painting, coloring books, and holiday ornaments and cupcakes to decorate.  There will be free S’mores, too. Helping to underwrite the event are Deffenbaugh Industries (event sponsor), Mission's Target Store (sponsoring children's activities), Credit Union of Johnson County (sponsoring children's activities), Casey's Auto Repair (sponsoring children's activities), Kansas Gas Company (sponsoring children's activities)  TransSystems, Inc. (sponsoring children’s activities), and Mission Bank (coloring books)

 The Mission Business Development Committee (MBDC) was established in August 2003 by the City of Mission, Kansas to assist in the revitalization and redevelopment of the Mission business district. Responsibilities of the committee include development and administration of investment and revitalization programs for this area.
