Holiday Lights and Festive Sights Event Scheduled
for Friday Evening, December 4 in Mission
, Kansas

Mission, KAN (Nov. 6, 2009): Friday evening, Dec. 4th will find Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus arriving in Mission, Kansas in style in their cyber sleigh to the delight of anxiously awaiting children as a part of the annual “Holiday Lights and Festive Sights” event, according to Suzie Gibbs, Chair of the Mission Convention and Visitors Bureau, the organization that sponsors the event.

Set on historic Johnson Drive, between Dearborn and Outlook, Holiday Lights and Festive Sights is a fun family-friendly event filled with holiday spirit. Beginning at 5:00 pm, everyone is invited to snack on free popcorn and watch two favorite holiday movies, How the Grinch Stole Christmas & A Christmas Story, at the Mission Theatre. Mayor Laura McConwell will light the Mission holiday Christmas Tree at 6:15 pm. Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus will arrive at 6:30 pm.

Popular children’s entertainer, Dino O'Dell will perform at 7:00 pm, singing a mixture of holiday classics and Dino O'Dell songs. There will be caroling from area high school choirs. At 8:15 p.m. is the colorful festive musical fireworks display to light up the sky. During the evening, kids can decorate holiday cookies and enjoy face painting. To keep everyone warm and toasty, there will be a fire pit and free S’mores and hot cocoa.
