Mission, KAN (April 5, 2010): Folk artisans and craftspeople from the metro Kansas City area, Kansas and Missouri are now being invited to register to sell and display their works of art and wares at annual Arts and Eats Festival, Sept. 17 and 18, 2010, in Mission, KS, according to Suzie Gibbs, Chairman, Mission Convention and Visitors Bureau Mission CVB). Folk art will be the featured artwork at this year’s event and by definition it encompasses a range of utilitarian and decorative media, including cloth, wood, paper, clay, metal and more. Folk art reflects traditional art forms of diverse community groups-ethnic, tribal, religious, occupational, geographical, age- or gender-based-who identify with each other and society at large.

Interested folk artists may down load an application at under the Arts and Eats tab. An exhibit fee of $150 per booth must be submitted with the application. Booth size is a 10’ x 10’ space with electrical access (20 amps). Artists and crafters are required to staff their own booth.

The Mission Arts & Eats Festival is a two-day event intended to create access to a broad array of art experiences, nurture the development and understanding of diverse art forms and cultures, and encourage the expanding depth of cultural life in the Greater Kansas City Area and Northeast Johnson County  while providing community interaction and family entertainment!  The festival includes the Battle of the Brisket barbeque contest sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society, local entertainment and a variety of food purveyors.
