Rising from the Ashes...
During the last week-end in September, 2008 a tragic fire destroyed the contents of ONE TRUE NORTH, a re-sale shop designed to raise funds for the performing arts department at Shawnee Mission North High School. The shop opened June 13, and was doing a brisk business until the fire occurred.
On December 17th, after two months of planning, cleaning, painting and re-stocking, the shop opened and the place is pristine. New donations have filled the space and the prices are still bargains. The dream of the volunteers (no one is paid) is to make enough money to offer scholarships to deserving SMN seniors as they head off to their costly college experience.
The shop longs for other volunteers-students, parents and other community members to help stock, clean, iron and tag the ever growing donations (clothes, electronics, etc.) that continue to pour in. If you, as a potential customer, want to look for good, gently used clothing and quality preowned products, this is the place to come. The shop is open for business and donations, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
